  CHIEF DEPUTY

The Chief Deputy Clerk directs all functions and related activities for the office of Clerk of Circuit and County Court, which includes directing administrative staff responsible for the office leadership including Human Resources, Management Information Services, Internal Audit, Support Services, Financial Services, Court Services, Budget, and secretarial/clerical. The Chief Deputy Clerk acts as staff liaison to the Clerk by providing information regarding all phases of operations of the Clerk's office; assists and advises the Clerk in formulating and effecting broad policies and program objectives; and develops, implements, and monitors policies and procedures appropriate to the day-to-day operations.

The Chief Deputy Clerk directs the strategic planning process and works with the CARE Team on strategic initiatives, performance standards, and best practices. She represents the Clerk in numerous matters where authority has been delegated and executes decisions of the Clerk upon directive, which includes the termination of employees. She directs employees of the Clerk's office through subordinate division directors.

The Chief Deputy Clerk insures that all funds, physical assets and other property of the Clerk's office are appropriately safeguarded and that security and emergency responses are adequate. She assists in the preparation of legislation to allow for an efficient operation of the office by eliminating outdated laws and changing existing laws.

Upon the Clerk's directive, the Chief Deputy Clerk attends meetings of the Board of County Commissioners, as the Clerk's representative, to keep fully informed on the conditions and operation of the County and on all important factors influencing them. She provides the necessary liaison and staff support between the directors, employees, public, judiciary, commissioners and the Clerk. She also maintains relationships with other government entities, community organizations, judiciary, boards and commissions as are desirable or necessary and in conformity with the overall objectives and policies of the Clerk's office. Attendance at seminars and training sessions is necessary to obtain knowledge and insight into current trends, legal duties and requirements of the Clerk's Office.
