RETURN OF THE UNEXCUSED JUROR SCAM

Scammers text overlaid with the red circle-and-slash stop or banned symbol

Scam alert: Alert Citizen reports receiving a telephone call claiming he'd missed jury duty, and threatening him with arrest unless he made an immediate payment. Smelling a rat, he hung up and telephoned us. Literally, a very good call!
Although there are penalties for ignoring a juror summons, neither our Office nor the
Pasco Sheriff's Office
telephones unexcused jurors, and we certainly DO NOT MAKE DEMANDS for payment in lieu of jail.
If you get such a call, be like our Alert Citizen: Give no personal information, hang up, then call us to report your experience.
