The Pasco County Clerk & Comptroller’s Office is excited to support the Court operations at this year’s Operation Stand Down. The event is geared towards providing Veterans with the goods and services they need. In keeping with our #ServeAndConnect motto, our role is clerking and recording documents on the legal front. Veterans with suspended drivers licenses and overdue felony and misdemeanor court case costs can plead their case before a judge. In many cases, the judge will waive fees in order to help that Veteran get back on his or her feet.
Clerk Nikki Alvarez-Sowles commented, “When you have something like Veteran’s Court where we’re able to help a Veteran who gave so much and sacrificed so much, that we can help them get back on their feet and get to a better day, there’s nothing better than that,” said Alvarez-Sowles. “That’s why we serve. We serve our community. We’re serving our Veterans.”

Last year, 13 Veterans had 22 cases resolved, and our Office waived more than $23,000 in fees and fines.
On important note, only Pasco cases can be resolved during Operation Stand Down.
